Alaska Musher Mitts – Mad Mitt Kit
Crafted from a truly rare piece of wool art, the Alaska Musher Mitts Mad Mitt Kit features a pictorial musher and dog team knit directly into the original sweater—a little slice of Alaskan tradition you get to turn into something warm and wearable. The exterior wool is cut from repurposed wool ski sweaters, felted for warmth, density, and long-lasting durability so your finished mittens can handle real winter weather.
The palette is pure northern trail: taupe and charcoal grays, deep bear-brown palms, and a touch of burgundy at the top edge. The backs of the mittens show two different scenes from the same sweater—one with the sled dogs in motion, the other with the musher striding forward on the trail. It’s rugged, iconic, and completely one-of-a-kind.
Inside every mitten is a soft fleece liner for added insulation, and the wrist finishes with a sherpa fleece cuff that locks in the warmth and gives that classic cold-weather look.
All pieces arrive pre-cut using Jill’s Mad Mitt templates, keeping the sewing simple and fun. Printed instructions are included—clear steps with a gentle nudge of Helga’s supportive humor to keep things joyful, even on tricky seams.
